Summary of Duties |
Accomplishes departmental public safety dispatching
objectives through dispatch efforts (i.e., answering
telephones, meeting and talking to the public,
interacting with other public safety personnel and/or
departments, documenting events and actions on computer
system; operates communications center computer systems;
receives and transmits radio communications, dispatching
personnel and equipment; receives and records telephone
calls; receives and evaluates incoming requests for
emergency services and transmits 2-way communications to
dispatch emergency services, personnel, vehicles and
equipment; seeks out and/or receives information from
the public or account holders, maintains records and
updates rosters, directories and files; enters and
retrieves data; maintains communications/control center
manuals; maintains work area. |

Additional Information |
There are two openings available for this position.
Unusual Working Conditions:
May be asked to give breaks to Alarm and Video
Monitoring staff & provide coverage to the Control
Center per the division's disaster preparedness plan.
Position will require the successful completion of an
extensive background investigation, including a criminal
background check.
Position is subject to 24-hour call in. Position is
subject to working evenings, nights & weekend shifts.
Position is subject to being scheduled for all home
football games. This position is identified as an
Essential position, whose presence is required
regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, &
whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and
well-being of the campus population & or physical plant.

Required Qualifications |
High school graduate or an equivalent. One (1) month
experience or 100 hours training in public relations.
|
|
Desired Qualifications |
Skill in typing, word processing, and operation of
computer terminals strongly; experience communicating
effectively with department, university & non-university
personnel. |
|
