• FOP, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. Press Release regarading July 29, 2015 indictment of University of Cincinnati Officer Ray Tensing
    Updated On: Jul 30, 2015

The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council disagrees with many of the comments made by local politicians, including the prosecutor.

Before everyone casts the stone of judgment, let's remember that this is a tragedy for all involved. We understand and appreciate public concern each time an officer is faced with the incredibly difficult, split-second decision to defend himself.  Officers work hard every day to protect the public and stop crime.  Unfortunately there are times when deadly force is used in the performance of their duties. People who watch an encounter on video using the slow motion setting to determine what happened have a luxury that police on the street don't. We make split second decisions. Some are right, some are wrong. but all of our decisions are made with an eye toward protecting the public and ourselves.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council will continue to make certain that Officer Tensing is given the due process that all citizens are guaranteed, including police officers.

    Bruce Szilagyi, Chairman

    FOP Ohio Labor Council
