    For Immediate Release:

INDEPENDENCE -The Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, the state’s largest police organization representing 25,000 active and retired law enforcement officers today endorsed Rob Portman for the office of U. S. Senator. The endorsement was made by the 303 delegates attending the 82ND annual conference in Independence, Ohio.

“On behalf of the members of the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, we are proud to endorse Rob Portman for the U.S. Senate and look forward to working with him. His support for our community is unmatched and we are grateful for all he has done,” said Jay McDonald, President of the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police and Vice President of the National Fraternal Order of Police.

The delegates also endorsed Cynthia Rice for the Ohio Supreme Court. McDonald noted “Judge Rice has served 13 years on the appellate court and has a decade of experience working side by side with law enforcement as a Trumbull County Prosecutor and Assistant United States Attorney. On the Supreme Court, the FOP feels Rice will apply the law impartially to protect all Ohioans, relying on insight into criminal law and procedure she gained from her experience working with law enforcement.”

State Secretary Mark Drum stated “The endorsements were not based along party lines, but were instead a vote for the best candidates who would back the positions of the FOP. Our members voted to endorse the candidates they feel will best support Ohio’s law enforcement officers. The FOP was impressed with all of the candidates who sought the endorsement and both Senator Portman and Judge Rice should be proud to have been selected by our members.”
