The Grievant, a Police Officer with five (5) years’ service with the Department, was a Detective and on the DEA Task Force.  Grievant attended a party that was hosted by an EMT for members of the City’s Fire Department.  The Grievant accompanied his former girlfriend who was friends with the hostess.

This arbitration involved a class-action grievance protesting the Employer’s increase in employee health insurance contributions.  The employees in the bargaining unit are eligible to participate in the County Health Care Plan which is self-insured.

Grievant, a Lieutenant, attended a training seminar in 2014 for peer-to-peer investigations of child pornography sponsored by Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). After the training, the Grievant requested that the Employer purchase the dedicated equipment that was needed to conduct such investigations, but that request was denied.

The Grievant, a Road Patrol Deputy, participated in the annual bid for shift and days off and had sufficient seniority to entitle him to his preference of day shift (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.). With notice of approximately three (3) days, Grievant was ordered to work four (4) hours of overtime (3:00 a.m.–7:00 a.m.) prior to his regular 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. shift.

The Grievant, a Police Officer with nine (9) years on the Department, was dispatched to a call where he found an intoxicated individual in the roadway during the early morning hours. The Grievant arrested the individual, handcuffed him and transported him to the county jail. During the entire ride, the individual repeatedly complained, pleading with the Grievant to let him go.

The Grievant, an Emergency Communications Specialist, had seventeen (17) years of service with the City. A Dispatcher received a text message from a coworker stating, “Boobies…Bouncing… Yayyyyyy Rude.” The Dispatcher responded by text message, requesting that the coworker refrain from making any further sexual comments.
