FOP/Ohio Labor Council Outraged by Senseless Shooting of Lorain Police Officers

COLUMBUS, OH — The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. (FOP/OLC) is outraged and heartbroken over the senseless ambush shooting of three (3) Lorain Police Officers. This heinous act of violence is a stark reminder of the growing threats our law enforcement professionals face every day while protecting our communities.

Gwen Callender, Executive Director of the FOP/Ohio Labor Council, expressed her concern and support for the officers and their families:

“Our prayers are with the wounded officers, their loved ones, and the entire Lorain Police Department. This attack is not just an assault on individual officers; it is an assault on the very institution of public safety. I am deeply concerned about the future of policing as a profession.  We must do more to support the brave men and women who choose this profession, knowing the risks they face.”

The FOP/OLC stands firmly with FOP of Ohio President Jay McDonald, who has issued a plea to citizens and elected leaders alike:

“We must stand united in our support for law enforcement. This is not the time for division or silence. This is the time for solidarity, for backing the men and women who run toward danger so others may be safe.”

This tragic event underscores the urgent need for renewed respect, protection, and investment in law enforcement. The FOP/OLC calls upon community leaders, lawmakers, and citizens across Ohio and the nation to unequivocally denounce violence against police and to join us in supporting those who risk their lives every day to serve and protect.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., is the largest law enforcement labor organization in the State of Ohio, representing members of the law enforcement profession since 1984.
